Hezekiah, known for his unfaltering faith, allows pride into his life. He shows off his treasures to Babylon, unknowingly opening the door to future invasion. (2 Kings 20) His son, Manasseh, takes over and quickly becomes one of the worst kings Judah ever had. His son Amon follows briefly, continuing in evil. (2 Kings 21)
Hope is not lost. Josiah becomes king at only eight years old. As soon as his age permitted, he seeks the Lord. During Temple repairs, the Book of the Law is remembered. When Josiah hears it, he is overcome with grief, realizing how far they’ve strayed (2 Kings 22). We all know the feeling of deep grief when we realize how far we have drifted. Don’t let the heartache hold you back. Breathe and move forward letting God take control.
Psalm 107 is a song of gratitude highlighting God’s mercy reaches down and lifts each on of us up no matter where we find ourselves.
