Jacob undergoes a spiritual renewal as God calls him to return to Bethel, the place where Jacob first encountered Him. Jacob leads his family in purging their household of idols, symbolizing a fresh commitment to the Lord (Genesis 35).
We shift gears to focus on Esau’s lineage. Esau’s descendants, the Edomites, flourish and establish a stronghold in Seir. While Esau steps out of the covenant storyline, his chapter is a testament to God’s provision for him as well (Genesis 36).
Jocob and his children lived in Caanan. Joseph, Jacob’s favorite son, had a dream where he ruled over his brothers. Mistakenly, he told them about his dream, and they became angry (Genesis 37). To solve the issue, his brothers sold Joseph into slavery and told their father that their little brother had been killed. You thought your brothers were bad!
Joseph ends up in the Pharaoh’s palace serving the captain of the guard. I guess it all worked out. God’s plans might seem to be veering off the accepted road, but that might mean you are right on track.
