David appoints musicians and singers to lead worship in the Temple (1 Chronicles 25). Music, used as a form of spiritual offering, glorifies God. Worship was structured, intentional and valuable. In 1 Chronicles 26, David organizes officials who will manage the Temple. Although they are not singers or priests their role is vital. There are no small jobs in Gods house. In 1 Chronicles 27, David prepares civil leaders to guarantee the nation is ready to function smoothly. He leads with wisdom and Godly order. In 1 Chronicles 28, David gathers leaders and gives Solomon the blueprints for the Temple, straight from God’s own instructions. He challenges Solomon to be strong, faithful, and obedient. David leads by example, giving generously to the Temple project, and the people follow (1 Chronicles 29). Giving generously in support of God’s work is a form of worship. This chapter shows what happens when a whole community gives with open hands and grateful hearts. Psalm 115 immediately sets a tone: glory to God. Idols are described as powerless and empty. The Psalm warns those who worship idols will become like them, dull and lifeless.
