In 2 Chronicles 18, King Jehoshaphat of Judah forms an alliance with Ahab, king of Israel, by marriage and agrees to go to war with him. Why would he do that? We know from reading Kings; Ahab is a wicked king. The prophet Micaiah speaks a hard truth, Ahab will die, and the battle is doomed. Jehoshaphat survives, but this chapter warns us that even godly people can make poor partnerships.

In 2 Chronicles 19, after the war, the prophet Jehu rebukes Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat takes the correction to heart and gets to work. His example teaches us that humble leadership accepts correction.

In 2 Chronicles 20, Judah is threatened by a vast army. Jehoshaphat calls the nation fast and pray, one of the most powerful stories in Chronicles. God responds and the enemies destroy each other. Judah never has to fight! He fights our battles.

Psalm 121 was sung by travelers heading to Jerusalem. This psalm is full of confidence that God watches over us, day and night.
