In 2 Chronicles 25, King Amaziah, son of Joash, begins his reign with some wise decisions. Don’t they all?!? With God’s help, he defeats Edom, but pride gets the best of him. Eventually, he foolishly picks a fight with Israel and suffers defeat.
In 2 Chronicles 26, Uzziah, Amaziah’s son, becomes king at just 16 and leads Judah into a golden age. Under his leadership Judah expands their military, builds cities and invents new technology. In his pride he became careless. He entered the Temple, a task only for priests. God struck him with leprosy, and he lived the rest of his life in isolation.
In 2 Chronicles 27, Jotham, Uzziah’s son, follows God’s ways without making a big splash. He rebuilds parts of the Temple, strengthens Judah, and defeats enemies. Jotham grew powerful though his walk with God. He died and was buried with his ancestors. His son, Ahaz, became king.
Psalm 123 is a humble prayer asking God to step in and show mercy when people are being unfair or condescending.
