Old Testament Summary: A Complete Animated Overview

In 2 Chronicles 32, King Hezekiah faces a terrifying threat when King Sennacherib of Assyria invades Judah. Instead of panicking, Hezekiah encourages the people to pray. He seeks the wisdom of the prophet Isaiah. God sends an angle to strike down the Assyrian army.

In 2 Chronicles 33, Manasseh, Hezekiah’s son, becomes one of the worst kings in Judah’s history. He rebuilds idol worship, defiles the Temple, and even sacrifices his sons. When captured by the Assyrians and imprisoned, he humbles himself and prays. God hears him, and Manasseh returns home, changed. Manasseh died and was buried with his ancestors. His son Amon assumes power. He becomes king at 22 years old, and only reigns for 2 years in Jerusalem. Amon does evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father did, but he does not repent. He is assassinated by his officials in his own palace.

In 2 Chronicles 34, Josiah, Amon’s son, becomes king at just 8 years old. Even as a teenager, Josiah looks to nurture his relationship with God. While repairing the Temple, Hilkiah the high priest finds the Book of the Law. He gives it to Shaphan the scribe, who reads it to King Josiah. When Josiah hears the words of the Law, he tears his robes in grief, realizing how far the nation has drifted from God’s law. Then Josiah calls all the elders together and reads them the Book of the Covenant. This moment marks a nationwide revival.

Psalm 125 is a song which highlights the similarities between those who trust God and Mount Zion. Both are strong, steady, and unshakable.
