In 2 Chronicles 35, Josiah organizes a remarkable Passover celebration, one of the most powerful in history. In an unexpected turn, he goes into battle against Egypt, despite warnings from God. He disguises himself, is mortally wounded, and dies. Even the most devoted hearts can stumble when they move ahead of God's plan.In 2 Chronicles 36, This final chapter records the reigns of Judah’s last four kings, each one walking further away from God. While reading it your heart might become heavy, like watching a family member slip further away from God. Eventually, Babylon invades, the Temple is destroyed, and the people are taken into exile. The story ends with a spark of hope. King Cyrus of Persia allows the nation of Judah, Jews, to return and rebuild the Temple. God is in control! Fun fact: the name Jew comes from the Hebrew word Yehudi which means someone from the tribe of Judah. Psalm 126, written after the return from exile, this song celebrates how God turned sadness into celebration. It’s proof that even through tears, God is planting something beautiful.
