Job answered his friends with some sarcasm. In Job 12, Job reminded them that even animals understand that God is in control of life and death. He pointed out that wise people can still suffer, and bad people can still succeed.
In Job 13, Job told his friends to be quiet and let him speak. He was tired of their advice. He wanted to bring his questions straight to God. Job knew God was his only hope, even though he didn’t understand what God was doing.
In Job 14, Job reflected on how short and hard life is. Life doesn’t last long. He longed for hope after death. This chapter shows how humans have always wrestled with questions about life, death, and purpose, especially when in pain. No matter how small we feel, we can place our hope in God.
In Job 15, Eliphaz spoke again, this time even more strongly. He accused Job of speaking pridefully and said sinful people always suffer in the end. Again, Eliphaz missed the point. Job was hurting, not because he was immoral, but because the world is broken.
In Psalm 142, David is hiding in a cave and feels forgotten. He cries out to God because no one else seems to care. When you feel stuck, lonely, or ignored, you can talk to God. He listens and He cares.
