In Job 16, Job felt attacked by his friends and by life itself. He said it felt like God had crushed him and everyone else was just piling on. In Job 17, Job said he felt like he was close to death. He said people mocked him, and hope seemed gone. He felt like he was living in darkness. This chapter is hard and sad. Even in hopelessness we can continue to talk to God. In Job 18, Bildad spoke again. Wrong again! Painting a dark picture of how the wicked will suffer and die, his talk was scary and full of warnings. Teaching us that people need love, not fear, when they’re hurting. In Job 19, Job told his friends they were crushing him with their words. He said God had taken everything from him, and even his family had turned away. Job said: “I know that my Redeemer lives, and one day I will see Him.” Hope in magnificent fashion. In Psalm 143, David feels weak and sad, but he still hopes in God. He asks for help, guidance, and rescue. When your heart feels heavy, you don’t have to hide it. God is strong when you feel weak.
