In Jeremiah 25, Jeremiah marks 23 years of faithful preaching, but the people still haven’t listened.God sets a path using Babylon, a rising power in the region. For 70 years, Judah and surrounding nations will be oppressed. Sin may be ignored for a season, but justice will always come.
In Jeremiah 26, Jeremiah is nearly killed for prophesying the destruction of the Temple. But instead of backing down, he stands firm. Speaking truth may cost us our popularity, comfort, or even safety.
In Jeremiah 27, God tells Jeremiah to wear a yoke, symbolizing that all nations must submit to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. Sometimes, surrendering to God’s discipline is the only way to survive.
Ecclesiastes 9, Solomon contemplates a sobering reality. Death awaits everyone. Life is unpredictable, like fish caught in a net. Solomon urges us to enjoy life while we can. Do everything with all your might.
