In Jeremiah 37, King Zedekiah asks Jeremiah to pray for the nation 🙏, even though he refuses to listen to God’s word 📖. Sounds like you and I, doesn’t it? Many times we want God’s help without accepting God’s truth 💡.
In Jeremiah 38, officials accuse Jeremiah of discouraging the people 😔 and throw him into a cistern to die ⚰️. A foreigner courageously rescues him 🛟. The king privately seeks Jeremiah’s advice again 🤫. Jeremiah warns him to surrender to Babylon ⚠️. Truth-tellers are often mistreated 😢, but God defends them 🛡️. Has telling the truth ever gotten you in trouble? 🤔
In Jeremiah 39, Babylon conquers Jerusalem 🏰🔥! The king tries to flee but is captured 🎯. His sons are killed and he is blinded 😢👁️. Jerusalem is burned 🔥 and the people are taken into exile 🚶♂️🚶♀️.
The Song of Songs is a uniquely beautiful book in the Bible 💖. Unlike historical accounts, this book is a poem ✍️—a love song 🎶, to be exact. On one level, it’s a celebration of romantic love 💑 between a bride (the Shulammite woman) and her beloved. Other perspectives view it as a reflection of God’s love ❤️, a picture of what Christ is to the church ✝️ or a reminder of what true love looks like 🌹.
Song of Songs 1 begins with the Shulammite woman expressing her deep desire and admiration 😍 for the man she cherishes. God created love and intimacy with beauty and purpose 💞.
