In Jeremiah 40, after the destruction of Jerusalem, Jeremiah is released from prison and is given a choice: to go to Babylon or stay in Judah. Jeremiah chooses to stay. He joins Gedaliah, who is appointed governor over the people left in the land. Even in the ruins, God allows for new beginnings.

In Jeremiah 41, A man named Ishmael, part of the Davidic dynasty, assassinates Gedaliah during a meal meant for peace. Johanan, another leader, hears about it and rescues the captives in a violent confrontation, reminding us betrayal always leaves a trail of fear and destruction.

In Jeremiah 42, Johanan and the people ask Jeremiah to clarify God’s intentions. Should they stay in Judah or flee to Egypt? Ten days later, God answers through Jeremiah: Stay in Judah. Their disobedience becomes fully clear in the next chapter. Makes you think. Do we really want God's will or just confirmation for our own plans?

Song of Songs 2, In this chapter, the Shulammite woman hears the voice of her beloved approaching with energy and purpose. He calls her to come away with him, inviting her into a new season. Whether in relationships or in faith, there are seasons we are invited to step into and others we are urged out of.
