In Jeremiah 43, Even after asking for God’s will, the remaining Israelites in Judah ignored His warning. They flee to Egypt taking Jeremiah with them. God warns them that Egypt won’t protect them. How often do we ask for God’s guidance, only to follow our own plans anyway?

In Jeremiah 44, God rebukes the people for worshiping Babylonian goddess of love, war, fertility, and the heavens, in Egypt. They justify their idolatry. Jeremiah warns them that their path will lead to their own demise, but they cling to their sin.

In Jeremiah 45, Baruch, Jeremiah’s scribe, is discouraged. God tells him not to seek greatness for himself but to be grateful for his life. Sometimes survival is the blessing.

Song of Songs 3, the Shulammite woman wakes up and realizes her man is gone, so she goes out at night to look for him. When she finds him, she brings him home. The chapter closes with a royal wedding, showing their relationship is now official. Love takes effort and intentionality.
