In Ezekiel 10 in a terrifying and symbolic vision, Ezekiel sees God’s glory leaving the Temple. This is heartbreaking. People’s sin has pushed God away from the very place meant to honor Him. God’s glory fills the inner court, then moves to the eastern gate of the Temple, the last boundary before leaving. In Ezekiel 11, Ezekiel is shown more leaders who mislead the people. Though accountability is looming, God still plans to bring His people back, transform them from within, and give them hope. Finally, the glory of the Lord leaves the city completely and stands over the Mount of Olives, just east of Jerusalem. In Ezekiel 12, God tells Ezekiel to act out a mini-drama—pretending to pack up and leave like an exile. It's a prophetic sign to warn the people that Jerusalem will fall, and the people will be taken away. Ezekiel teaches them and us that obedience is a now decision, not a someday plan. In Psalm 3, David is being hunted by his son Absalom. David is surrounded by enemies and cries out to God, but he does not panic. But You, Lord, are a shield around me… I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. David didn’t deny his troubles. He just trusted God was bigger.
