In Ezekiel 22, God shows Ezekiel how bad things have become in Jerusalem. The people are hurting others, ignoring God’s laws, and doing wrong things without feeling sorry. The leaders are not helping; they’re making it worse. In Ezekiel 23, God tells a story about two sisters to explain how Israel and Judah turned away from Him. They looked for help in other nations and followed their evil ways. Even after many chances, they did not turn back to God. In Ezekiel 24, God gives Ezekiel a picture of a boiling pot filled with meat. It shows how Jerusalem is full of mistakes and trouble is coming. That same day, Ezekiel’s wife dies, but God tells him not to cry. Just like Ezekiel loses something very precious (his wife) and must stay silent, the people of Israel will also lose something they love deeply, Jerusalem and the Temple. In Psalm 7, David prays to God for help because people are saying lies about him. He tells God, If I did wrong, punish me, but if I didn’t, please protect me! David knows God sees the truth.
