In Ezekiel 34, Israel’s leaders are being powerfully corrected. These “shepherds” only cared for themselves. God opposes selfish leadership and injustice, but He also lovingly restores and transforms broken hearts. His promises are for those who trust Him. There is also a future promise: God will send one Shepherd, from David’s line, to truly care for His people. Who is He talking about?

Ezekiel 35 turns to Edom. God tells Ezekiel to speak against Mount Seir, because Edom held a long, bitter grudge against Israel and cheered when God’s people were suffering. They thought they could grab Israel’s land while it was down. God steps in. Instead of getting ahead, they are guaranteed to meet the same hatred and violence they showed.

Ezekiel 36 is full of hope and restoration. God promises to rebuild the land, bring His people back, and give them a new heart and a new spirit.

In Psalm 11, even when the foundations of society seem to crumble, David refuses to run away. When things around you feel unsafe or unfair, you can stand firm because God is still in control.
