The book of Daniel is about a group of young people who were taken far from home to live in a powerful kingdom called Babylon. Even though they were in a new place with different rules, they chose to do what was right. As you read, watch how courage, honesty, and faith can make a big difference, even when things get hard. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego find themselves in Babylon. They honor God with small choices. In Daniel 1, they refuse to sicken themselves with the king’s food, and God blesses them with wisdom, health, and favor. In Daniel 2, In chapter 2, King Nebuchadnezzar dreams of a massive statue, each part representing future world empires. Daniel, by God’s revelation, interprets the dream. All human kingdoms will eventually fall, but God’s kingdom will last forever. In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse to bow to a golden image. Their punishment? They were thrown into a blazing furnace. Yet even there, they’re not alone. They walk out untouched. Psalm 16 is a quiet Psalm. It communicates trust. David recognizes that every good thing comes from God. God is his purpose, his plan, his inheritance, and his counselor.
