Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament. He likely preached after the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC. His message condemns Edom for violence, pride, and betrayal against Israel. The Bible gives no personal details about Obadiah here. We don’t know his family, birthplace, or call story. In Obadiah 1, God warns Edom that their pride and cruelty toward Israel will bring them down. Even though they felt safe, God will humble them. But for God’s people, there is hope. He will restore them and be their King again. He is not talking about a human ruler, but is pointing toward Jesus. Amen. In Psalm 29, David praises God’s powerful voice. It thunders over waters, shakes the wilderness, and makes the mountains tremble. This same mighty God gives His people strength and blesses them with peace.
