In Jonah 3, Jonah finally obeys God and warns Nineveh about coming destruction. The people believe in God, fast, and change their tune. God sees their effort and spares the city. Sometimes we think it’s too late to change, but God enjoys giving second chances when our hearts truly turn to Him. In Jonah 4, Jonah is upset that God forgives Nineveh. God uses a plant, a worm, and the hot sun to teach Jonah that people are far more valuable than comfort or personal pride. God calls us to see every person with His compassion. In Psalm 31, David cries out to God for rescue, trusting Him as a faithful refuge. Even in fear and trouble, he chooses to put his life in God’s hands. No matter how uncertain life feels, our safest place is in God’s care.
