In Zechariah 10, God speaks about being the true Shepherd who cares for His people. He promises to gather them, strengthen them, and make them walk with confidence, even though they had followed false leaders in the past. Zechariah 11 shows a picture of broken leadership. The people rejected the good shepherd, and instead, they were left with leaders who cared only for themselves. There is a moment where the shepherd’s staff, a symbol of guidance, is broken, pointing to the pain that comes when people push away God’s care. In Zechariah 12, God promises to defend Jerusalem, making His people strong and victorious. He says even the weakest will be like a warrior when He is with them. In Psalm 41, David praises God for caring about those who are weak and sick, reminding us that God never forgets the hurting. Even when David feels betrayed by close friends, he trusts God to lift him up and protect him. We can rest in His care, knowing His love is steady and strong.
