In Mark 13, Jesus speaks about the future. He tells His disciples that hard times will come, but they don’t need to be afraid. Instead, they should stay alert, keep their faith strong, and trust that God holds the future in His hands. His words remind us that no matter how uncertain the world feels, our hope is anchored in Him.

In Mark 14, the story moves toward the cross. A woman anoints Jesus with expensive perfume, showing deep love and devotion. Judas, one of His own disciples, agrees to betray Him. At the Last Supper, Jesus breaks bread and shares the cup, pointing to His coming sacrifice. In Gethsemane, He prays in agony, yet surrenders to the Father’s will. His closest friends fall asleep and later scatter, but Jesus presses on, determined to complete His mission of love.

The agony of Jesus is not weakness, it is proof of the depth of His love. In our darkest struggles, we can remember that He understands suffering and willingly entered it so we could be set free.

Psalm 59 reminds us that when people turn against us, God is still our defender and faithful strength.
