In Luke 22, leaders plot to kill Jesus, and Judas agrees to betray Him. Jesus shares the Passover meal with His disciples, breaking bread and sharing the cup to show the new covenant in His blood. He prays in the garden, surrendering to the Father’s will. Soldiers arrest Him, Peter denies knowing Him, and Jesus is mocked and beaten. Even in the darkest moment, His love never wavers.

In Luke 23, Jesus is taken to Pilate and Herod, then sentenced to die though He had done nothing wrong. On the cross, He forgives those hurting Him and promises paradise to the criminal beside Him who believed. Darkness covers the land until He gives up His spirit. He is buried in a tomb, and it looks like all hope is gone. But God’s plan is not finished.

In Luke 24, on the third day, the tomb is empty. Angels announce that Jesus has risen. He appears to two men on the road to Emmaus and later to His disciples, opening their eyes to understand the Scriptures. He proves He is alive by eating with them and sending them to share the good news with the world. Then He blesses them and is taken up to heaven. Hope is alive forever. Death, resurrection and ascension: Luke is the only Gospel writer who gives us a clear picture of all three in one book. Luke continues the story in the book of Acts 1.

Psalm 68 praises God as the One who rises up and defeats His enemies. It celebrates Him as a Father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. It ends with a call for all nations to recognize His power and give Him praise.
