In John 19, Jesus is beaten, mocked, and sentenced to die. He carries His cross to the place called Golgotha, where He is nailed to it. Even in the midst of pain, He cares for His mother, asking John to receive her as family. When His work is finished, He gives up His spirit. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus place His body in a new tomb. It seems like the end, but it’s not.

In John 20, on the first day of the week, the tomb is empty. Mary Magdalene sees the stone taken away and runs to tell the disciples. Jesus appears first to her, then to His followers, showing His hands and side. Thomas doubts until he sees for himself, but then he believes. John says he wrote all these things so that we may believe that Jesus is the Son of God and have life in His name.

In John 21, some disciples go out to fish but catch nothing until Jesus appears on the shore and tells them where to cast the net. After having breakfast together, Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves Him, giving him the opportunity to be restored after denying Him. Jesus tells him to feed His sheep, showing that His followers must continue His mission.

The Gospel of John shows us the heart of Jesus more deeply than any other book. From the beginning, John makes it clear that Jesus is the eternal Word of God, full of grace and truth. We see Him perform signs, speak life, heal the brokenhearted, wash feet, pray for His people, die on the cross, rise from the tomb, and restore His friends. Through John’s eyes, we learn that Jesus is not only powerful but also personal.

Psalm 75 praises God as the One who judges with justice. He humbles the proud and lifts up the faithful. It reminds us that God is the true ruler and His power is above all.
