Day 291 - 1 Corinthians 7–9 Psalm 93

At the beginning of 1 Corinthians 7–9, Paul is still in Ephesus on his third missionary journey, writing to the believers in Corinth who had sent him questions about faith, relationships, and daily life. The church is young and full of energy, but also confused about how to follow Jesus in a city filled with temptation and mixed messages. From his room in Ephesus, surrounded by the sounds of trade and travelers, Paul writes with a steady heart, guiding them with both wisdom and compassion. Though far away, he feels deeply connected to them, wanting to help them live in freedom and love, not confusion or fear.

In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul answers their questions about marriage, singleness, and faithfulness. He reminds them that whatever situation they are in, they can serve God with devotion and peace. Whether married or single, what matters most is keeping God at the center. Paul’s words remind us that our worth isn’t based on our relationship status, but on the love of Christ that fills our hearts and gives us purpose.

In 1 Corinthians 8, Paul talks about food that had been offered to idols. Some believers thought it was fine to eat, while others felt uncomfortable. Paul explains that knowledge alone can make people proud, but love builds others up. He encourages the Corinthians to think not just about their own freedom, but about how their actions affect others. It’s a call to use freedom with kindness, remembering that love always comes first.

In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul uses his own life as an example. He says that even though he could ask for payment as an apostle, he chooses not to, because sharing the good news freely brings him joy. He explains how he tries to understand everyone—Jews, Greeks,

the strong, and the weak—so that more people can hear about Jesus. His passion shows that following Christ isn’t about rules, but about giving our best for God’s glory.

In Psalm 93, the writer celebrates God’s majesty and power. The psalm describes the Lord as a King whose throne has always been firm, even when the oceans roar.
