At this time, Paul is in Macedonia, writing to the believers in Corinth. He has been through heavy challenges and emotional pain, yet he has also experienced God’s comfort in powerful ways. His letter overflows with warmth and encouragement, reminding the Corinthians that even when life feels too hard, God’s strength is always enough.
In 2 Corinthians 1, Paul teaches that God is the Father of compassion and the source of all comfort. He explains that when we face hard times, God comforts us so that we can comfort others. Paul admits that he went through moments so difficult that he thought he could not survive, but he learned to depend fully on God, who brings life even out of death. He urges the believers to keep trusting God and to pray for one another.
In 2 Corinthians 2, Paul explains why he delayed visiting Corinth. He didn’t want to come with sadness but with joy. He encourages the church to forgive someone who had caused trouble and to welcome that person back with love. Paul reminds them that forgiveness protects their hearts from bitterness and division.
In 2 Corinthians 3, Paul says the believers are like letters written not with ink but with the Spirit of God, showing the world who Jesus is. He compares the old covenant, written on stone tablets, with the new covenant, written on human hearts. When Moses met with God, his face glowed with glory, but that light faded. Paul explains that the glory of God now lives inside believers and grows brighter as we keep looking to Jesus. The more we reflect His love, the more His light shines through us.
In Psalm 97, the writer celebrates that God is King over everything. His light shines all over the world, and even the mountains melt like wax when He comes near. Everyone who loves God is happy because He is good and fair. His presence fills people’s hearts with peace and joy.
