Paul writes to the believers in Colossae while still imprisoned in Rome. Though he has never met them in person, he deeply cares about their spiritual growth and wants to guard them from false teachings. Even in captivity, Paul’s faith burns brightly, and his letter reminds them to keep Jesus at the center of everything.

In Colossians 1, Paul writes to the believers in Colossae, a city he has never visited, but he cares deeply for them. He begins by thanking God for their faith and love. Paul beautifully describes who Jesus is, the visible image of the invisible God, the one who created everything and holds it all together. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are brought close to God and forgiven. Paul encourages the believers to stay strong in their faith and continue growing in understanding and gratitude.

In Colossians 2, Paul reminds them not to be tricked by false teachings or empty ideas that take their focus off Christ. He explains that when we belong to Jesus, we are made spiritually alive and free from the old ways of trying to please God through rules or rituals. Our faith isn’t about doing more. It’s about trusting what Jesus has already done. Paul says that since Christ has conquered death, we can live with confidence and joy.

In Colossians 3, Paul teaches what it means to live like new people in Christ. He says to set our hearts on heavenly things, not on selfish desires. We should let kindness, humility, patience, and forgiveness fill our hearts. Paul encourages families to love one another, children to obey their parents, parents to guide gently, and everyone to work with honesty as if they were serving God directly. When we live this way, our lives become a reflection of Jesus’ love.

In Psalm 107, the psalmist calls everyone to thank God for His unfailing love. It tells stories of people who were lost, hungry, or in trouble, and every time they cried out to God, He rescued them.
