Paul continues writing from Macedonia, encouraging Timothy to be brave and confident even though he is young. He reminds him that good leadership isn’t about age or position, but about character and heart. Paul’s love for Timothy shows how much he values passing faith to the next generation.
In 1 Timothy 4, Paul warns Timothy that some people will turn away from the truth, but he encourages him to stay focused on what is good and true. He tells Timothy not to let anyone look down on him because he is young, but to lead by example. Paul reminds him that teaching and caring for others is a great responsibility, and that growing closer to God takes daily practice, just like training for a sport.
In 1 Timothy 5, Paul gives advice about how to treat people in the church family, with respect and gentleness. He tells Timothy to honor older men and women like parents and to care for widows who are in need. Paul also explains that church leaders deserve respect when they serve faithfully, but that everyone, no matter their position, should live with honesty and integrity.
In 1 Timothy 6, Paul warns against the trap of greed and reminds everyone that true riches are found in a Godly life filled with contentment. He says we brought nothing into this world and can take nothing out, so we should focus on doing good, helping others, and trusting God to provide.
In Psalm 113, the psalmist calls everyone to praise the Lord, from sunrise to sunset. His name is worthy of honor. God is mighty and above all, yet He lovingly lifts the poor and the hurting, giving them hope and dignity.
