Paul writes from prison in Rome, knowing his time on earth is almost over. The cold cell and chains don’t stop him from sending one more letter to his beloved friend Timothy. His message is full of courage, faith, and hope.
In 2 Timothy 1, even though Paul knows his time on earth is almost over, his faith is strong. He reminds Timothy to be brave and to keep sharing the message of Jesus with confidence. Paul says that fear doesn’t come from God. His Spirit gives power, love, and self-control. He also thanks God for Timothy’s sincere faith, which began with his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. Paul’s words show how faith can be passed lovingly from one generation to the next.
In 2 Timothy 2, Paul encourages Timothy to stay faithful and steady like a good soldier who doesn’t give up, a hardworking farmer who patiently waits for harvest, and an athlete who competes with discipline. He reminds Timothy that God’s Word cannot be chained, even when Paul is in prison. Paul calls him to stay kind and gentle when teaching others, trusting that God will change hearts.
In 2 Timothy 3, Paul explains that in difficult times, people will become selfish and careless about what’s right. But Timothy must stay faithful and remember what he has learned from the Scriptures. Paul reminds him that even when the world feels uncertain, God’s Word remains steady and true.
In Psalm 114, the psalmist celebrates how God led His people out of Egypt with power and love. The Red Sea parted, mountains trembled, and rivers made way for His people to walk through.
