We have all heard of Yom Kippur. Maybe you wanted to know what it was about. Chapter 16 describes the annual Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). This day reminds us of the weight of our moral failing. This accentuates the importance of letting go of guilt, resting in forgiveness and extending grace to others.

This chapter isn’t just about blood (Leviticus 17). God commands that all sacrifices be made at the Tabernacle, reinforcing that worship should be centered on Him, not on personal convenience or cultural influences. The emphasis on blood as sacred teaches that life itself belongs to God. This chapter challenges us to reflect where we direct our devotion.

This chapter outlines moral boundaries for interpersonal behavior, urging God’s people to avoid destructive practices common in surrounding cultures at the time. The deeper message is about integrity, self-control, and valuing healthy relationships.

In Psalm 35, David cries out for God to defend him against his enemies. This teaches us to allow God to be the one to carry out justice, freeing us from carrying resentment.
