Day 36 - Leviticus 19-20 - Psalm 36

Chapter 19 teaches the importance of holiness through how we treat others. Honoring parents, loving neighbors, helping the poor, and living justly. It emphasizes God's call for us to reflect His character in our daily lives.

Chapter 20 outlines severe consequences for various sins, reminding us of the seriousness with which we should approach sin in our own lives. It's often hard to truly take sin seriously if we don’t fully understand its nature. At its core, sin is simply doing what God does not want us to do. Since sin can take many forms, it’s most helpful to focus on the sin in our own lives rather than comparing ourselves to others. Judgment and comparison won’t lead to transformation or cleansing.

To truly understand and address sin, we need a relationship with God. This connection is essential because, through it, God can reveal to us the areas of our lives that need change. As we grow closer to Him, He will guide us, helping us identify and remove behaviors that hinder our walk with Him. It's through this ongoing relationship that we can genuinely begin to cleanse our hearts and lives, making us more aligned with His will.

Psalm 36 is like a cosmic battle between the goodness of God and the sneaky, selfish ways of humans. It starts by highlighting how bad people can be, full of pride and deceit, doing whatever they want without care for others or God. But then, the psalm turns to celebrate how amazing God is!
