God wants us to serve. Back then He set apart the Levites for service. True service requires purity and dedication. In chapter 8, we see the Levites cleansed for duty. We should also prepare our hearts and minds to serve others and honor God in our work. His purpose, our purpose.
God continues to provide guidance through the cloud by day and fire by night (Numbers 9). This teaches us to trust God’s direction in uncertain times. Just as He led Israel, He leads us today. Do you feel led? If not, how can we nurture a deeper relationship?
The Israelites move forward at God’s command (Numbers 10). Giving up our plans and moving forward to fulfill His vision should be our goal. Matthew 16:26 (NIV) – What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? Don’t forfeit His goal in your life to pursue your own. You will never find a better reward, then the peace of following him blindly.
Can you believe it? We started with Psalm 1 and now we are on Psalm 42! Psalm 42 reflects on longing for God in difficult times, trusting in His presence.
