Today we read Numbers 11 through 13.

Chapter 11 continues the pattern the Israelites have established. They continue to complain about their hardships. God provides them with what they need, but in human weakness they become greedy. Moses, overwhelmed by the people's complaints, is helped by 70 elders whom God fills with His Spirit. When feeling overwhelmed, leaning on others instead of isolating is a good choice.

Miriam and Aaron speak against Moses because of his Cushite wife (Numbers 12). Miriam and Aaron were Moses’s siblings. God defends Moses, punishes Miriam with leprosy, and after Moses intercedes, she is healed but must stay outside the camp for seven days.

Moses sends 12 spies to explore the Promised Land (Numbers 13). They report that the land is fruitful but inhabited by strong people and giants. Ten spies spread fear, while Joshua and Caleb trust in God's promise. Life can get scary. When we trust in God, we guarantee positive results. Joshua and Caleb received their reward for loyalty and so will you.
