Day 47 - Numbers 22-24, Psalm 47

Balaam, a prophet, is hired by Balak to curse Israel, but God warns him not to (Numbers 22). On his journey, Balaam’s donkey sees an angel blocking the way and speaks to him. This shows us how God uses any means necessary to get out His messages to us. Don’t wait for a voice from the clouds. It might be a kiss from your pup.

Despite Balak’s insistence, Balaam can only speak what God allows, blessings over Israel instead of curses (Numbers 23). This is where questions of freewill can confuse. God allows you to choose how to get there but He chooses the destination.

Balaam delivers a final prophecy, confirming Israel’s victory and the rise of a future ruler (Numbers 24). Even people who oppose us know victory is on our way when we are glowing in God’s light.

Psalm 47 is a joyful celebration of God’s sovereignty over all the earth. It calls people to clap, shout, and sing praises because God is in control. Sounds like fun to me.
