Day 55 - Deuteronomy 7-9, Psalm 55

God commands Israel to completely destroy the nations in the Promised Land to avoid idolatry (Deuteronomy 7). Sometimes, God asks us to remove certain influences from our lives to keep us spiritually pure. Are there habits, relationships, or distractions pulling us away from God?

Moses reminds Israel how God provided for them in the wilderness (Deuteronomy 8). In our lives, it’s easy to remember God in hardship but forget Him in success.

Israel is reminded that it is God’s grace that allows them to inherit the Promised Land and not because of their righteousness. God’s grace, a gift, protects us from ourselves. It gives us endless options and zero dead ends.

David seems to cry out in distress a lot. In Psalm 55, it is no different. He is overwhelmed by betrayal and would like to escape. Instead, he deposits all his trust in God, which gives him the strength to move forward.
