Day 69 - Joshua 22-24, Psalm 69

After fighting alongside the other tribes, the eastern tribes (Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh), return to the land east of the Jordan river (Joshua 22). Our responsibilities to God can take us far from home. Having clear communication with Him can make the choices we have to make easier.

As Joshua nears the end of his life, he gathers Israel’s leaders to remind them of God’s faithfulness. Have you ever experienced God’s faithfulness? Take some time to pray about it. Surely God’s grace, love and faithfulness have been with you the whole time.

Joshua gathers all the tribes and gives them a recap, from Abraham’s calling, their deliverance from Egypt, and their victories in the Promised Land. Joshua ends his book challenging you, choose this day whom you will serve. (Joshua 24:15). Hopefully we can all answer, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15)

In Psalm 69, David describes overwhelming suffering. He confesses his sins and renews his devotion to God. David calls on God’s faithfulness to rescue him and he prays for justice for his enemies. Even though we read the words of a man submerged in deep pain, he is praying to God. Let God be your answer.
