In Judges 9, Abimelech gains power through deception but meets a tragic end. He was not a true judge but a self-declared king. Leadership must be built on integrity, not manipulation.
In Judges 10, we meet Tola and then later Jair, both judges. We have very little information about them. We see the story of the cycle of sin play out again.
In Judges 11, Jephthah, an outcast, becomes a leader but makes a reckless vow, leading to his daughter’s tragic fate. Think before you speak. God values wisdom over impulsive promises.
In Judges 12, an internal conflict erupts, a civil war between the tribe of Ephraim and Jephthah’s Gileadites. Jephthah’s victory causes tension, showing how pride and division weaken a nation.
Psalm 73, written by Asaph, wrestles with a common spiritual struggle, why do the wicked prosper while the righteous suffer? At first, he struggles with the injustice, then with a change of perspective he rests in confidence in God’s presence.
