In 2 Samuel 4, Ish-Bosheth is murdered by his own men, hoping to gain David’s favor. But David, staying true to God’s justice, punishes them. Doing wrong in God’s eyes cannot be justified by good intentions. Instead, we need to strive to have a living relationship with God. Flowing and clear communication can keep us on the right track.
In 2 Samuel 5, after the death of Ish-Bosheth, the tribes of Judah and Isreal unite under one king, King David. David makes Jerusalem the capital.
In 2 Samuel 6, David brings the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem with joy and worship.
In 2 Samuel 7, David wants to build God a house (temple), but God says no. David’s life was full of battles, violence, and bloodshed. God wanted His house built by a man of peace, Solomon, David’s son.
In 2 Samuel 8, David wins battles and rules with justice and righteousness. He dedicates his victories to God. Success is not all about winning. Remember to honor God amidst your triumphs.
In Psalm 88, the psalmist is overwhelmed with sorrow, abandonment, and pain. He feels close to death, forgotten by God. Unlike other psalms, this one doesn’t end in hope. It closes in darkness. Some chapters of our lives will close in darkness. It is ok to not be ok. Talk to God.
