In 2 Samuel 19, David continues to mourn for Absalom. His sorrow is so deep that it overshadows the victory his people just fought for. Sometimes wins just don’t feel like wins.

Peace making requires courage. Just as the kingdom begins to settle, a rebellion begins to stir. With courage, a woman, involved in the rebellion, speaks up. She is able to convince her city to surrender their leader. Her courageous actions prevent a massacre (2 Samuel 20).

A famine hits Israel for three years. David seeks the Lord to understand why (2 Samuel 21). God clarifies. Unresolved sin can bring lingering consequences.

Psalm 92 celebrates the goodness of praising God. Reminding us to make worship a part of everyday life. It encourages us to not feel discouraged when seeing the unjust sprout up like weeds. A sign of the righteous is the fruit they bear. Faithfulness isn’t flashy. It’s fruitful.
