2 Samuel 22 seems more like Psalm 151 than a chapter in second Samuel. This chapter is a song of thanksgiving. David reveres God as his rock, fortress, deliverer, shield, and salvation. Is God your everything?

David was an admired leader because he trusted God deeply, led with courage, repented humbly, praised passionately, and ruled justly. His heart for God shaped him. In 2 Samuel 23 David shares his final poetic words, acknowledging that his leadership came from God.

In 2 Samuel 24, David orders a census of Israel to measure the power of his kingdom. this census was not intended by God and was driven by pride, and ambition. Sometimes we count things (followers, money, accomplishments). They can give us a false sense of security. We are called to trust God’s planning, not human numbers.

When life feels wild, unstable, or uncertain, Psalm 93, reminds us that God is still on the throne. He’s not shaken. He is still mightier than anything crashing against you.
