I have a battle and
I carry it with me every day.
It weighs me down and I tire and cry.
I carry it with me every day.
Romans reminds me that we all have a burden.
Some carry it within their soul or among their secrets.
I carry it with me every day.
I fight the temptation and fall short time and time again.
I carry it with me every day.
Because it is with me and on me and it shows.
I am reminded of it constantly.
I carry it with me every day.
Sometimes I pray for help and mercy.
But if it wasn’t this, what would it be.
My sin is mine. As heavy as it may be, I can manage.
I carry it with me every day.
I look around at others and see,
I would not want their weights,
I could not handle what they carry,
Mine seems incomprehensible to many but
I carry it with me every day.
I need to do better.
I cannot accept.
I cannot give in.
But life’s lessons come in the most peculiar ways,
and I learned to be who I am because
I carry it with me every day.
