Today is someone’s birthday. Eleven going on twenty-five. And he has been doing great.

In honor of his special day, I want to share a bit about where he’s at.

Ale used to struggle to keep his big feelings and deep thoughts in a box. This year, he’s matured into someone who can explore those feelings freely—and still knows when to lock them up and just go play.

In just one year, he’s speaking Spanish fluently! We’re still working on grammar and polish, but motivated by his desire to connect with friends, he’s made amazing strides.

Friends? Tons. Can’t get rid of them! 😄 Just kidding—but really, Ale has made friends everywhere: boys, girls, adults, and even a whole bunch of kindergartners.

Where did he find the kindergartners? He teaches English twice a month at the local kindergarten “Hijos de Dios.” He prays with the kids, teaches a few words, plays a game or two—and then his little brother serves snacks. Dynamic duo in action!

School? We go two or three times a week for in-person school. Let’s just say the uniform never comes home clean. On the other days, we focus on our homeschool program. We recently learned that dual enrollment could start as early as age 14—and while there’s a long road ahead, when Ale sets his sights on something, he usually gets there. So… stay tuned.

Family’s been visiting a lot—Carlos, Sarah, Mike, Mom, Dad. Their love, along with a few trips back to the U.S., has helped ease the homesickness.

Ale’s a Boy Scout now—“Always Ready!” The responsibility and service mindset are helping him focus more on helping others and less on electronics.

And yes—we finally found a church we love. Sundays 9–11am, you’re invited. The kids' class is a hit, and the pastor shares a humble, biblical message. Lots of events too!

We also hired a sports coach to come to the house on homeschool days. Ale gets a workout, sharpens his soccer skills, burns off energy, and then hits academic mode strong.

He has never been happier. He’s a great kid with a giant heart—and guess what? Today is his birthday.

What did he ask for?

That I take Friday off and play Minecraft with him.

It would be my pleasure. 💛

So, no update on Friday.

Happy birthday, little man. You fill my cup more than anyone else ever could. I’m so grateful to God to have you in my life.

Let’s make this year unforgettable.
