My son, Alejandro, asked me if I loved him today more or less than I loved him the first day I met him. If you know Alejandro, you know he wants an answer. I told him that I loved him 100%, with all my heart from the beginning. The difference being that my 100% has grown so much over the years.
Being a mini mathematician, he wanted to understand how that worked. I gave him a quick illustration: I asked him: What would be wrong with this statement? – You ate 100% of the pizza so you ate a lot of pizza. – He looked at me with crossed eyebrows. He was thinking. Oh, I get it Mom! It would be wrong because we don’t know what size the pizza is. 100% of a small pizza is not much.
Well, that is like the love I have for you. It has always been and always will be 100%. It’s the pizza that grows.
All three of us giggled. We understood each other.
A few days later, I was lying in bed next to my son, Frederick. He was dozing off. I said, good night, I love you Fred and he responded good night, Mom. My pizza is huge.
My goals for 2023 are simple:
Always love with 100%. Grow a bigger pizza.
