June 18, 2024 – Day 22 – Never mind. I don’t want anything.

Mom and I have been talking a lot about WANT lately. How does WANT affect our lives? Don’t we WANT to control it? Don’t we WANT to improve?

Want is an essential part of the human experience. For many of us it drives our decision making. For others it sets our goals and objectives. Sadly, it can also impose regret and shame. How does this invisible force, concocted in our mind, influence our present, our past and our future?

Psalm 34:10 - those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Could it be that what we WANT is not good? I seek the Lord tirelessly. Am I to conclude that everything I want, but do not have, is no good thing.

James 4:2 You do not have because you do not ask God. Could it be that we lack a personal relationship with God? Does that connection run deep enough to sustain a conversation? Am I capable of asking the Lord for something? What is His phone number?

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.Could it be that the battle that rages inside me is really a fight between the Spirit and my flesh? If I feel WANT intensely, it is ultimately the Spirit winning the battle. Should unanswered WANT be a feeling I should celebrate?

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. If we look at WANT trusting that we lack nothing, could we determine that if we want something and don’t have it, we don’t need it?

So,If I want it and don’t have it, it’s no good.If I need it, I trust I will have it. If I need it, and don’t have it, just ask.
