In our Bible class, we are looking deeper into the book of Judges. I hesitate to write anything in the current atmosphere that could instill fear or confusion. That is not my intention.
It came to me like a refreshing rain drop on a hot day, we need to stay vigilant.
The world around us tries to steal our peace. It makes up reasons to complain. It creates divisions that don’t exist and barriers that are not even there. It forces us to identify when God never demands that of us. It forces us to make choices we are not prepared to make. We suffer losses of gains that were never destined to come our way. We suffer a lot and our self-inflicted disturbances reign as king in our lives.
As we suffer, we can feel our relationship with God get weaker and more distant. The distance that is created can quickly become a crutch in poor decision making. Frases like I deserve this; just one more; fifteen more minutes; she will never know; form part of our vocabulary.
Just like the Israelites in the book of Judges, we might wake up days, weeks, months or even generations later, questioning what happened? Where did it all go wrong?
It started the day we allowed anything to take priority over God in our lives. Let God lead. Let God win. Let God control. Let go. We have no idea what we are doing. Glory to God. Today more than ever!
