When I first moved here to Florida, a handy man came to fix something in my bathroom. He didn’t speak English and it was easy for me to switch into Spanish. We got to talking and I told him about what I do at Proyecto Propósito. He told me he had someone in Argentina that would love to learn English. He kindly asked if he could give her my number.
She and I connected a few weeks later. She began English level 1 class the following week. To make a long story short. She has now graduated from level 5 and is completely bilingual. Ready for what God has to offer. She felt called to study English and she did.
A few weeks ago, she got the amazing news that she will be coming up to the USA for a few weeks in September. We will have the opportunity to get together and grow a deeper connection still. She has seen how God has moved in her life thanks to her willingness to listen and her faithful obedience.
When she was first called to learn English, she had no idea what was going to happen, but she did it anyway. She still has no idea what is going to happen, but it is a guarantee that if she continues relying on God to make those choices, her future is bright.
Following God is not always a simple path. There are many challenges and hardships along the way. The light, that Jesus spoke about, that shines from us comes from the deep heart felt motivation derived from knowing God is in control.
After seeing this play out in her life many times in the past 2-years, Silvina’s soul burns with the desire to know God better. Not a desire to change the world. Not a desire to convert every soul alive. Just the simple but all-powerful desire to create a deeper connection.
