Tela, Honduras is located on a bay. It is perfectly placed. When hurricanes are in the area, Tela’s mountainous terrain and recessed bay protect the coastal town from devastation. At one extreme, Punta Sal and at the other Punta Izopo, these national parks are places of unmatched natural beauty.
This week, with my nephew Carlos in town, we decided to go to Punta Sal. We drove about 40 minutes to Miami and then got on a boat heading towards the national park. The boat ride was extraordinary. Seeing the ocean push up against the untouched mountains and cliffs reminded me of a sensation I had before.
I felt the familiar relief of a tense muscle after a massage. The stress of life leaving my body. Just as a masseuse would work on the tension in your shoulders, the ocean breeze and inspiring scenery calmed the stiffness in my soul.
I came back from that trip a little different.
