I teach a Bible study once a month run by the organization I work for, Proyecto Proposito. I am the first of many pastors, teachers and leaders that accompany readers on their journey through the Bible. It is surprising to know how many people have set a goal in their life have to read the Bible, and they can’t.
Reading the Bible can be challenging. It makes you confront parts of your life you might prefer to keep quiet. It can be boring and feel distant at times. Every moment of it requires that you have your analytical brain engaged. Sometimes it is just too much.
As we mentor these readers, going from one book to the next, we get to know them as people. We learn where they struggle. We get to see the Bible through their lens. We hear their powerful testimonies. We pray alongside them. It is an incredible privilege. It has changed my life.
Yesterday as each student participated in the study, you felt safe and loved as the Holy Spirit corrected, lifted up and spoke to each of us. Each person, a world apart, but united in Christ.
